Vancouver Skating Club Policy

    

 

Payment & Fees

Payment Schedule: Please refer to your online registration Shopping Cart payment options – Pay at Once or Pay by Installments.  Payment accepted by Visa/MasterCard. No skater may skate until online registration and payment is received by the Registrar prior to the first due date.  All Skate Canada fees must be paid at the beginning of the skating season. All late registration questions should be directed to the Registrar.

Requests to change sessions because of changes in school/work schedule or skating qualification level, MUST BE MADE IN WRITING to the Registrar. An administration/change fee of $10.00 will apply to each session change, and additional ice fees if necessary. Change fees do not carry over to another season. Buy-on fees may be paid for the session you wish to skate on if the change is only temporary. However you must follow the buy-on procedures or discuss the situation with the Registrar and the Skating Director. Skaters are not permitted to sell or trade sessions.

Request of additional session(s) may be made in writing to the Registrar. Payment of additional session(s) will be according to the schedule and fee – early bird discount and/or total weekly ice discount structure do not apply to additional session(s).  Late entry or additional session(s) are pro-rated effective November 1st for Fall/Winter Term, and pro-rated effective mid-season for Spring Term.

NON VSC Members: If you are not a VSC club member and registering for skating, there is a 15% surcharge that will be added to your invoice. 

Privacy Policy: We respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining your confidence and trust.  Accordingly we maintain the following privacy policy to protect personal information you provide.  Any information you give to us will be held with extreme care and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to.

If you choose to provide personally identifiable information about yourself, we will not use the information for any purpose other than to respond to your inquiry.  We do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease any personal information collected.

On our web site, you may find links to third party web sites.  Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy policies or content on third party sites.  Therefore, it is recommended that you read the privacy policy of third party web sites for your information.

StarSkate & Podium Volunteer Fee: A post dated payment (end of Winter term the following year) is included in initial registration for Fall/Winter Term in order for a skaters’ registration to be processed.  If you choose to pay your skater registration in full – the volunteer program fee will be processed right away.  Each family can earn volunteer credits by volunteering at the Club, by end of winter term - in order of volunteer fee not to be processed.  The volunteer credits must be earned during the Spring, Summer (prior to Fall/Winter term), Fall or Winter (current term) session. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure they fulfill the minimum requirements, submit their volunteer recording credit sheet to volunteering@vancouverskatingclub.ca prior to the end of winter term, otherwise payment will be processed on your credit card. If they are unsuccessful to earn full 10 credits, their $300 volunteer fee will not be prorated.

Refunds/Credits: The VSC does not offer refunds. Credits may be granted in the case of absences due to medical circumstances or compliance with public health orders (including but not limited to self-isolation and travel restrictions). The skater must have missed a minimum of 14 consecutive registered days to qualify. Documentation (Doctor’s certificate or public health directive) must accompany your written request for credit. The Board of Directors will consider credits on a case by case basis. If granted, the credit will be pro-rated after the 14 day wait period and receipt of documentation. Please note VSC refund policy applies to Pre BUY-ON rates as well. Please note VSC refund policy applies to Prepaid BUY-ON rates as well. 
If requesting consideration for Medical credit – you must submit request email to VSC Administrator once the minimum 14 days off (due injury, illness, etc) has occurred, as a file must be opened in the relevant term.  If you pursue medical credit, Doctor Documentation must follow for board consideration. Please email vsc@vancouverskatingclub.ca.

Insufficient Funds: The VSC policy regarding returned cheques states that any person having issued two or more returned cheques to the VSC must make all subsequent payments to the Club by either cash, certified cheque, money order or bank draft. A fee of $25.00 will be charged for each NSF cheque returned to the Club. A fee of $25.00 will be charged if the provided Visa or MasterCard is denied upon processing.

Outstanding Fees: All skaters registering for any program with the Club must pay the fees associated with the program and all outstanding monies due to the Club or coaches prior to the program start date. The skater will not be allowed on the session if any fees or monies are outstanding.

CanSkate – Learn to Skate & CanPower – Power Skating Refund Policy:  If you request to withdraw from a program more than FIVE business days before the scheduled start date, you will receive a full refund less the Skate Canada Fee.
If you request to withdraw anytime between five business days (Monday through Friday) before the program starts and no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the second class, you will receive a refund less one class and the Skate Canada Fee.  Please note:  NO REFUNDS or credits can be issued after the second class once the program has started.

Power Skating Weekly Program(s) - No Refunds or credit can be issued for weekly programs with less than 5 business days prior to program start date. 

Canskate Summer Weekly Program(s) - No Refunds or credit can be issued for any summer Canskate program with less than 5 business days prior to program start date. 

VSC Disclaimer:  The VSC reserves the right to change, cancel or reassign skaters to sessions.  The Club is not responsible for ice cancellations that are out of its control (including, without limitation, cancellations due to adverse weather (at the discretion of the Club), or because the facility has cancelled or reclaimed VSC's ice time).  In the event of cancellations out of the Club’s control, refunds or credits will not be issued.  The Club endeavours to replace sessions when possible but replacement ice is not guaranteed.  Make-ups for sessions missed by skaters are NOT allowed.
